Fruit washing is an incredibly easy, inexpensive and fun practical life activity that also helps develop fine motor skills. It is very common in a formal Montessori toddler program and best of all, it only requires items that you most likely have in your kitchen.

  • Position all your materials in an organized manner before the child
  • Demonstrate for the child how to pour water from the jug into the large bowl
  • Have the child select a fruit and while grasping it with one hand, use the sponge or brush to dip in the water and scrub the fruit
